MHS Parent Welcome Letter

Welcome Letter

July 18, 2023

Dear Morrow High School Community,

It is my great pleasure to greet you for the first time as Morrow High School’s new principal.  During the interview process, I had the great privilege of meeting MHS parents, community members, teachers, classified staff, and students.  I look forward to meeting all stakeholders in the next few months.

Morrow High is a school with great traditions and a legacy of excellence.  I intend to honor that legacy by working hard each day to unite all stakeholders toward the common goal of improving educational outcomes for all Morrow High School students.  Through this united vision, I believe that Morrow High School can become a premiere public high school.   We can achieve greatness by reinforcing our motto each day of, “Excellence Without Excuses.” As the 2023 school year begins, I am in my twenty-six year as an educator and I’m truly excited to serve the Morrow community.

From a philosophical standpoint, I believe that a safe and secure learning environment is necessary for children to effectively learn.  Furthermore, I believe that rigorous instruction and active student engagement are the foundation of a quality education.  This is especially important as we implement a challenging curriculum and excel academically on all state assessments.

By setting high expectations, and challenging our students to meet them, I am confident that Morrow High School will continue to grow as a learning community.  In order to foster your child’s social and emotional growth, please encourage him or her to get involved in extra-curricular activities.  Students who play sports, participate in Fine Arts, and join Clubs tend to enjoy their high school experience, while achieving a higher level of success.

As Principal, I ask that you become active participants in your child’s education.  Parental involvement is a critical factor in your child’s success, so please contact the school if you are interested in volunteering.  There are a variety of ways to get involved during the school day and at evening events.  Additionally, I ask that you remind your children that school is important, and that their future success will be determined by the decisions that they make today.   Additionally, it is important that all parents review and support the following initiatives:

  • MHS Dress Code 2023-2024 – Review dress code policy on the school website.
  • Remind 101 – All parents will need a Remind 101 account to receive weekly updates from teachers.
  • Cell Phone Policy – Students will need to store cell phones in lockers to remain focused throughout the school day.

Throughout the year, I ask that you frequently check Morrow’s website for updated school information.

In closing, please feel free to call, e-mail, or visit me with your concerns or ideas for the improvement of our school.  The staff and I look forward to partnering with you in
our pursuit of excellence at Morrow High School.

Sincerely,

Mr. Harrell
