Advanced Learning for All

Greetings Morrow High School Parents,

  • According to the Governor's Office of Student Achievement, 34.7% of our students are college and career ready.  This percent of students are likely to be successful in first year college courses (not requiring remediation or learning support).  While CCPS is moving in the right direction, we are aware that this percentage needs to increase since there is a large percent of students who are not ready for college without the need for remediation.

  • Consequently, CCPS is offering students early exposure to college-level rigor by providing them with expanded access and increased opportunities through the Advanced Learning for All (ALA) initiative.

  • The ALA initiative increases the number of advanced course offerings in schools to eliminate barriers and increase access to all students so that more graduates are prepared to secure professional careers that are in high-demand and offer attractive wages.

  • Essentially, CCPS is making a conscientious effort to provide every student exposure to rigorous coursework that will equip them with the skills necessary to achieve academic success and compete in a global society.

  • We do understand that ALA challenges students to read and write more and think critically and creatively at higher levels; however, we have a variety of supports to assist students with meeting these standards.

  • We anticipated that these challenges may initially be uncomfortable for students and have embedded safeguards into our curricula.

  • See the attached resources for parents, students, and teachers.
